In a nation where we have a Super Walmart around every corner, it is difficult for us to understand the amazing treasure that G-d gave to the people of Israel; His Torah.  In it, there are instructions for cultivating the land, as well as everything else we need to have a good life.  In Haiti however, the earth, the rain, and the seedlings bare witness that Torah is Life today as it was in the beginning.

The children at Beth Chesed are not learning to open their hands to reserve handouts; they are learning to open the earth with their little fingers to plant seeds according to the instructions of G-d.

“If you walk in My statutes, keep My commandments and carry them out, then I will give you rains in their season, the land will yield its crops, and the trees of the field will yield their fruit.
